5 most intriguing Avengers: Endgame theories

“Avengers: Infinity War” left fans in the dust (literally) when it premiered last summer. Since its release, fans have taken to the internet to find and offer theories as to how The Avengers will ultimately defeat Thanos.

The Russo brothers, the directors of “Avengers: Endgame,” recently announced that the film will be about three hours long and that all the trailers released for the film have been intentionally misleading. Fans will be going into the movie blind, and reliant on theories as to what direction the story might take.

We scoured the internet looking for the most convincing and most intriguing theories we could find.

5 most intriguing Avengers: Endgame theories

5. The Avengers will travel back in time to save their friends

In the after-credits scene of “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” Scott Lang found himself trapped in the Quantum Realm with nobody around to save him. However, right before being shrunk down, Janet Van Dyne warned Scott to avoid being sucked into a time vortex. Some fans expect that Scott, along with the rest of The Avengers, will throw caution to the wind as they travel back in time to prevent Thanos from obtaining all of the Infinity Stones.

This theory is furthered by leaked photos from the set of “Avengers: Endgame” of Captain America dressed in the same classic outfit from the first Avengers film.

4. Nobody is dead; they’re trapped inside the Soul Stone

After the heartbreaking scene where Thanos throws Gamora to her death, we see him inside a world where he tells a young Gamora that he got what he wanted, but at the cost of “everything.” Rather than being a window into Thanos’s psyche, some fans theorize that what we are actually seeing in this world is the inside of the Soul Stone .

We have seen the power of each Infinity Stone on-screen except for the Soul Stone, which begs the question, “What does it do?” Some say it is unlikely, but “Avengers: Endgame,” might just be an all-out attack on Thanos to try to destroy the Soul Stone, and bring their friends back.

3. The Avengers will travel to another dimension

Dimension hopping is no stranger to  Marvel comics. Reed Richards of The Fantastic Four once teamed up with two other Reed Richards from different dimensions, each of whom had his own completed Infinity Gauntlet. With this in mind, The Avengers might use Ant-Man’s ability to enter the Quantum Realm to hop to another dimension to get help, and maybe grab another Infinity Gauntlet to fight off Thanos.

2. Captain America will die in the final confrontation with Thanos

After finishing filming “Avengers: Endgame,” Chris Evans tweeted out a farewell to the character, thanking his fans for their love and support. “Avengers: Endgame” also marks the end of Evans’ contract with Marvel. As Captain America is not the type of person to retire, many fans believe that this might be the last time we get to see the star-spangled man with a plan on the silver screen.

Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.

1. Hawkeye saw his family die, and snapped

Although absent from “Avengers: Infinity War,” every trailer for “Avengers: Endgame” has showcased a grizzled-looking Hawkeye with weapons and a costume similar to his other alter-ego from the comics, Ronin .

Another scene from the trailer shows Hawkeye training his daughter how to use a bow and arrow back at their country home. Fans speculate that during that father-daughter training session, Hawkeye’s daughter and family turn to dust due to the snap from Thanos. After losing his family, Hawkeye would go rogue and assume the lone-warrior persona of Ronin, as he tries to have some sort of life after losing his family.

Let us know in the comments below what fate you think might befall the heroes this April.
