Diskette drive 0 seek failure (error message)

The diskette drive 0 seek error may not allow the computer to start up. This error may not be related to hardware or software issues in the computer. Floppy disks left inserted in the floppy drive can cause the diskette drive 0 seek error if the floppy is not a bootable floppy. To boot from the hard disk, all drives in the system, including the floppy drive or the CD-ROM drive should be empty. The settings in the BIOS should be checked for Diskette 0 or drive A. If the computer does not have a floppy drive, this setting should be changed to none in the BIOS.

Hello,

about 4 months ago my computer began to display this message "Diskette drive 0 seek failure" on a black screen at startup. When this happens the computer may or may not start up. I was told by a computer shop that my hard drive needs to be replaced. Others have said it's my battery. Does anyone know what may be causing this and what I can do to fix it?

You need to press F2 then go to Standard CMOS Features, then highlight drive A. Change it to none. It should not have anything in there unless you have a floppy drive.
